The Art of Making Money Online

It’s very easy to start with the question of how do you make money online?

The problem with this question though is that it isn’t the right one to ask.

If you ask someone how do you make money online then you’ll get a million different answers.

  • Blogging
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Sponsorships
  • YouTube
  • Dropshipping
  • Writing books

This list could go on forever.

The reality is, all of those things are just tactics.

You can make money doing any of those things but only if you understand the basic foundations of business.

Think about this, is it possible for you to buy something that doesn’t get your attention?

When you go to the grocery store you don’t magically buy things that don’t end up in your cart.

For you to buy anything it has to grab your attention.

In business, if you can’t get attention, then you can’t get money.

That applies to all businesses. Your business isn’t so special that you get to break this rule.

However, before you can get the attention you need to get noticed.

The look of something can quickly make you notice it, right?

I don’t know if this soap is better than others but I love their packaging so I take notice.

It’s why so many marketers place a high value on package design. Brands fight tooth and nail to get the right placement in stores because they know that the right placement can get them noticed.

Once they get noticed, then they can focus on keeping the attention of the person.

Finally, once you get people to notice you and are able to keep their attention, then you’re able to convert that attention into money.

So the system of business that all businesses fall under is:

  1. Get noticed
  2. Get them to pay attention
  3. Convert that attention into money

No business can survive by thinking that they get to fall outside of this system.

It doesn’t work like that.

It’s impossible.

When people learn about this system they tend to think that they are in a bubble.

They do everything that they can to follow the 3 principles but can’t find success.

Usually, it’s because they forget they’re competing with other brands who are also following the 3 principles.

Did you know that you are hit with over 5,000 branded messages daily?

That’s a ridiculous number and as time goes on that number will only increase.

Your blog is no different.

You might think that your blog is only competing with the other blogs in your niche, but it isn’t.

It’s competing with Amazon, the Yankees, the weather, and a ton of other things.

That makes this whole blogging thing sound scary but it’s not that bad because if you understand the secret 4th principle of the business system then you’ll have a leg up on most people.

What is the 4th principle?

Trust.

When you can get someone to trust you and you maintain that trust then you have a customer/reader/subscriber/follower/True Fan for life.

And that’s a powerful thing.

So why bother blogging?

Because blogging can help you work through the 4 principles of blogging:

  1. Get them to notice you
  2. Get them to pay attention to you
  3. Get them to trust you
  4. Convert that trust into money

When done correctly, blogging takes care of all of these things.

It’s why blogging can truly work for any business.

And now that you understand those things we can begin to talk about blogging.

I think we should begin with what is blogging. It seems silly to even discuss this because if you’re here you probably have an idea of what blogging is, but let’s be sure.

So what is blogging?
