The 2020 Guide to Starting Your Blog the Right Way

Making money for yourself.

That’s really what it comes down to.

You and I could pretend that there is a higher purpose to jump into blogging but when it comes down to it, you want to make money and I want to make money.

I’m not going to pretend that this guide is about finding happiness or your passion.

I’m not going to lie to you and say this guide is going to present blogging as the simplest thing on the planet.

You deserve better than that.

So what is this guide going to do?

It’s going to show you the steps needed to build a blog that is actually a business. A blog that lasts for however long you want it to and isn’t dependent on a single source of traffic or revenue.

A blog that helps you make money like this:

Two blogs, both good money.

Or you could build a blog as a foundation for your online business that sells digital products which could help you make money like this:

Who knows maybe you’ll have a week like this eventually:

Yes, that’s $99,416.59 in one week. That was a fun week.

With blogging, the world is truly your oyster.

The goal of this guide is to show you how to build a foolproof business.

I know that seems impossible but it isn’t.

It’s just the people that are able to do so don’t feel like creating free guides.

And the free guides that are out there always seem to make blogging look really easy.

  • Pick a domain
  • Buy Bluehost hosting (it’s always Bluehost)
  • Choose your passion
  • Write
  • ???
  • How I made $2,000 a month blogging

This guide isn’t that.

This guide was written to make you think.

To help you truly decide if blogging makes sense for you to pursue.

Who Am I?

My name is Paul Scrivens and I run Odd Noodle. We’re a company (all 3 of us) that help people build successful online businesses.

One of those components is blogging which I’ve been doing since 2003.

While a lot of the tactics around blogging continue to change the principles of a successful system of blogging haven’t.

I wanted to create a guide that showed you the system so that you can adapt whatever tactics you want around it.

These are things that we’ve learned over the years through trial and error with our own blogs.

If you don’t believe me just take a look at this 6-Month Case Study for our home decor blog. We live in the trenches of blogging so we understand the current trends and tactics. The struggles and obstacles.

This guide isn’t written from the perspective of someone that created a blog 5 years ago and is using that as the tool for teaching.

This guide is written from the perspective of someone that has created a blog just a couple of months ago and has successfully built it up.

From someone that has built multiple blogs and scaled them to 4 or 5 figures a month with hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of page views a month.

Success Stories

Admittedly, it would be easy to talk about my own success stories but that doesn’t really help you that much.

I could be an alien for all that you know so I’ve included some analytics of Blog Simple Framework members that shows what is possible when you follow what you see in the guide.

When you have a proven system in front of you that you can follow then anything is possible.

So if all of that sounds good to you we can get started.

You can read this guide online or you can download the PDF version below. They both are the same.

The PDF Version

Admittedly, the Blog Simple Guide is pretty long and we don’t assume you’ll have all of the time in the world to view it online so we’ve also turned it into a PDF.

It’s a free download, we just need your email to know where to send it to.
